Inspiration

So the past week has been fairly busy. Setting up my graduate exhibition REVEAL and attending the opening night (the free bar that was supposed to last for 3 hours ran out in 45 minutes!). Since then I've been having a well-deserved break for a few days and now the packing begins because.....I'm moving to London in a week! So thought this was a good opportunity to do a workwear/general inspiration post for going to work at ELLE magazine. So excited to start properly, it will be fantastic.

Loving the grey t-shirt, leather shorts, cardie combo on Alexa.

These beauties from Topshop Boutique (£75) will be perfect for later summer and then Autumn/Winter. Too hot for leather shorts atm!

This oversized stripe t-shirt will be SO easy to wear for work on a hot day. Teamed with heeled ankle boots and bare legs (£32, Topshop Boutique)

Also LOVING this dress from COS, definately a new staple wardrobe piece (love the leather pockets)

And as I am a staunch A/W girl, I have been looking for new winter coats already.

On the list so far I have a flying jacket (hoping to get a vintage one) and either a cape or grey coat, like this beautiful Stella McCartney number, available from Net-A-Porter.

Or this BEAUT of a coat from Miu Miu:

Some things to look forward to:

1. Starting work at ELLE magazine next Monday!!
2. The launch of Mr Porter (new from Net-a-Porter)
3. The return of my gorgeous boyfriend.
4. The soon-to-be-made purchase of the Mulberry Oversized Alexa.
5. Summertime in London.

Graduate Fashion Week

so, it has been Graduate Fashion Week at Earl's Court 2 this week and....I WON AN AWARD!!!

So flattered to be even shortlisted for the award I won and really didn't think I would win at all. Still in shock, very overwhelmed but extremely happy and so pleased that all of my hard work has been recognised!

So, last night at the Gala Show I was presented with the HACHETTE FILIPAACHI MEDIA AND DESIGN AWARD for my BACKSTAGE book by the CEO of HF Kevin Hand aaaaaand ERIN O'CONNOR!! She is incredible - so ethereal and TALL.

Bagged myself a lovely glass trophy, £750 and get mentor support for 2 years from GFW.

So here's one of the many photos of me with my award (still waiting for the official photo to come on the GFW site)
Had a fab time at the afterparty and did a few interviews which is always good!

Off to Leeds for the weekend now and then setting up our graduate show at uni called REVEAL. The preview is on Wednesday evening so we have lots to set up!

If anybody wants any more details about my work please let me know.

RECENT HAPPENINGS

I've had a very very busy couple of weeks so please excuse the lack of updates!

Had my final hand-ins at uni and had VERY good feedback about my work so I'm extremely pleased as you can imagine! Also, Joe took me to Barcelona at the weekend and we had such an amazing time and had the BEST hotel. I can definately recommend Murmuri on Rambla de Catalunya if you go to Barca; amazing customer service (our room got upgraded to one with a massive terrace!) and they do a mean cocktail.

Had a great time jus chilling out, sightseeing and spending time with my boy as we hardly ever get quality time like that together!

I'm off to London on Sunday to start my job at ELLE on Monday! Doing a 3 day induction and then I had Graduate Fashion Week and REVEAL exhibition at my uni so starting work properly at the end of June for a couple of weeks before my sister's wedding and then back working in August.

So, please do remember to come to GFW to see my work! It's on 6th-10th June at Earl's Court 2 and I'm on the Northumbria University stand.

Ooh also, I've bee featured on the beautiful The Last Miaow blog, which has up some pictures of my work!

BACKSTAGE / GFW / ELLE

So, my final hand in for all of my work associated with my BACKSTAGE book are next week; final promotion and logistics booklets have been sent to print, along with some portfolio sheets.

This is available through my website (which isn't working properly...can't figure out why....) but here it is again: the video of my book, showing page by page the layout and photography.

Had some lovely comments already about the book and looking forward to getting all my hard work marked!

I will be exhibiting at Graduate Fashion Week at Earls Court 2 from 6th-10th June, so come down to Northumbria University stand and see all the hard work from us lot on Fashion Communication, and also Fashion Marketing and Fashion Design.

Will also be showing at the REVEAL exhibition at Northumbria University Design School from 17th-25th June, so if you're up in Newcastle it's definately worth a visit.

Aaaaand my final bit of news is that I'm the new Bookings Assistant at ELLE magazine! Technically an intern position, but I'll starting at the end of May and then taking on the role properly in June/July for a couple of weeks and then starting properly in August. VERY excited! Although have to find somewhere to live ASAP.

If anyone needs a flatmate, let me know!

A week in bed....

So, this week, I've been in BED all week with chickenpox, which has been an absolute nightmare for my work (only 2 weeks left until my university final deadlines and I still have so much work to do!).

Luckily feeling alot better today after my boyfriend looked after me and brought me nice DVDs to watch, some percy pigs and some AMAZING headphones which I've wanted for ages (see here).

SO, today, I finally got round to sorting out my studio images of my Backstage book! Took them last Monday, the day the chickenpox started! Didn't actually realise I had them until I got home after this session.

Really pleased with the studio pictures! Also did a little video which I have just finished editting but cannot find for the LIFE of me some good music to go with it! I want something quite trip-hoppy but fast and relevant. Have been scouring iTunes and Spotify for something cool but NOTHING has taken my fancy as yet.

Still lots to do this week. Lots of bits and bobs to send to print for the final hand in, but having to get my mum to help me with alot of it as can't leave the house due to chicken pox until Friday so mum will be trailing things up to the printers for me, poor Mum!

Any opinions on the book would be great :)
