Fashion: And the bride wore McQueen...

My gosh, that was quite a dream wasn't it! If you follow my Twitter feed, you'll know how much of a Royalist I am. And I am so ridiculously pleased that Kate Middleton chose Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen for her bridal gown...and my, wasn't it as spectacular as everyone had hoped!

From the BBC:

"Designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, it has a lace appliqué bodice and skirt, and veil. The bride wore her hair down, with a tiara. The lace on the bride's dress details a rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock, and was hand-made by the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court Palace. The bridal train measures 2m 70cm, and along with the lace, all other fabrics used in the creation of the dress were sourced from and supplied by British companies.

Workers washed their hands every 30 minutes to keep the lace and threads pristine, and the needles were renewed every three hours, to keep them sharp and clean. The veil was held in place by a Cartier "halo" tiara, lent to Miss Middleton by the Queen."

And her dress for the evening celebrations, again by Sarah Burton, was as spectacular as the bridal gown!

There was so much fashion to cover from the event so I'll be doing a separate blog post about everyone else's ensembles.

News: Wedding Fever!

I am somewhat of a Royalist, so obviously I am beyond excited for the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton tomorrow, Friday 29th April 2011 - my Union Jack bunting is already up!

But, the one big question on my mind is which designer has made her bridal gown? Obviously, everyone was excited at the rumours of Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen creating the gown, but we've also heard rumours of Sophie Cranston or Bruce Oldfield creating this show stopping piece. I'll be watching the TV with an eagle eye tomorrow to dissect all of the wedding fashion choices by the bride, her family and guests. I can't WAIT!

Hillier's Bunny Collection is available at Dover Street Market

Happy Easter!

Fashion: British Designers' Collective at Bicester Village

This weekend I was down in Oxfordshire to visit my sister, and the designer outlet, Bicester Village, just so happens to be half an hour away, so of course I had to pay a visit. More importantly, I wanted to see the British Designers Collective pop-up shop which is running for six weeks, featuring a whole host of great new British design talent including Richard Nicoll, Felicity Brown and Lara Bohinc.

First impressions of the pop-up shop were fantastic. Loved the very on-trend neon colours used in the store design, including the amazing neon-pink telephone box outside.

I wasn't allowed to take any pictures of the clothes, but the sales assistants were extremely friendly and let me take photos of the store inside (how fantastic are the big jars of gamma orange and pink jellybeans!)

So did I buy? Well, even for an outlet some of the clothes were a bit out of my price range (I wish I could've afforded a Felicity Brown dress!). I did purchase two Jonathan Saunders t-shirt dresses though - am a massive fan of his printwork so in was great to add these to my collection!

I also made another few purchases at Bicester but that's for another blogpost...

Fashion: Sophie Hulme

I have been coveting Sophie Hulme's beautiful leather and brilliantly trans-seasonal bags, for well over a year now, and now has come the time when I am seriously considering making a purchase! But which one to go for? I love them all.

The leather-work is absolutely superb and the utilarian/military style is a timeless look to buy into.

Sophie Hulme's bags and ready to wear collections are available at ASOS and bStore

Fashion: I love Nimue Smit

How gorgeous is Nimue Smit in this beautifully styled editorial for Numero #122 by Sebastian Kim? Coveting the Prada striped stole, it is fantastic piece...just wish I had enough money to buy it!

Had the busiest week known to man, and an even busier week this week coming! Have some exciting blogs posts coming up in the next few weeks though, including a trip to the British Designers Collective at Bicester Village! Can't wait.
