Fashion: Chanel Makeup Confidential

Erm, ever so slightly obsessed with writing my name and anything I can think of for that matter, in the Chanel make-up font!

Fashion: GraphiChanel

Chanel's Spring/Summer 2012 set design was a marvel in itself; an underwater playground where Chanel's ethereal, pearl encrusted girls swam in the deep to the sounds of Florence and the Machine. Lagerfeld, like others this season, presented a collection inspired by the sea for Spring/Summer but my favourite part of this collection just so happens to be the subtle, graphic accents on classic Chanel boucle jackets, dresses and knitwear; as a lover of all things minimally brilliant in graphic design, my heart skipped a beat when these looks were presented on the catwalk. Now, time to save the pennies to add these wonders to my wardrobe.

News: Wedding Fever!

I am somewhat of a Royalist, so obviously I am beyond excited for the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton tomorrow, Friday 29th April 2011 - my Union Jack bunting is already up!

But, the one big question on my mind is which designer has made her bridal gown? Obviously, everyone was excited at the rumours of Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen creating the gown, but we've also heard rumours of Sophie Cranston or Bruce Oldfield creating this show stopping piece. I'll be watching the TV with an eagle eye tomorrow to dissect all of the wedding fashion choices by the bride, her family and guests. I can't WAIT!

Reading... Intelligent Life's article about the ever-wonderful, inspiring and beautiful Grace Coddington.
Such a well worded and written article by Coddington's former assistant Julie Kavanagh, Grace is truly the mother of the fashion industry.

Watching..the preview of Keira Knightley's latest campaign for Chanel 'Coco Mademoiselle' over and over again - who wouldn't want to be wearing a Chanel catsuit on a vintage motorcycle?!

Fashion: Wishlist

I recently inherited some money from my absolutely astounding Granny, who sadly passed away in December. I don't want it to just sit in a bank account gathering dust until I decide what to do with it, so I've decided to invest in some classic fashion pieces, which I will treasure forever.

So I've definitely decided to invest in Chanel - a jumbo classic flap bag in caviar leather with gold hardware, along with a Louis Vuitton/Stephen Sprouse leopard print scarf and possibly a Mulberry/Louboutin's as well.

What would you buy if you were given the opportunity to buy a classic piece?

Paris Fashion Week: Chanel, Valentino & Alexander McQueen

Chanel

Mixing the masculine with the feminine is already a prominent trend this season (see Dolce and Gabanna) and Karl Lagerfeld presented haute workwear for the Chanel A/W 11/12 collection. Quilted jumpsuit anyone?
The set design for any Chanel show is always highly anticipated and they did not disappoint: a section of scorched earth (love Tim Blanks' comment about volcanic ash!) engulfed the Grand Palais and the models can out in the classic heritage tweeds, but teamed with leggings and worker boots. If Chanel did mining...

Romantic, elegant and very wearable. Valentino A/W 11/12 provided us with beautiful garments accented by python prints, fur and micro florals. And I have fallen head over heels in love with the oil-blue/green leather trench coat - to die for! The Sixities influence was noticeable again with the long jackets over skirts and it is confirmed now that florals will be everywhere for A/W 11/12

Much publicity has surrounded Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen this week - she is reported to be designing the wedding dress for Kate Middleton - and didn't she produce a collection fit for a Queen. Decadent, delicate and more couture that ready to wear. The craftmanship was astounding and if Kate Middleton has selected Burton as her chosen designer, we really are in for an unmeasurable treat.

Lather up.

Soap is making a come back. Obviously, it never went away, but it's not the shower/bath time item of choice. Personally, I have always used soap (a favourite being Wright's Coal Tar soap, which my granny always used to use), and now with the release of Chanel's No. 5 soap, soap is very much the must have item for a luxury bathing.

Top soap picks:

Coco Mademoiselle soap, £17 (available at Debenhams)

Baby Bear Shop soap (via weebirdy.com), $8

Chanel No. 5 soap (available at Boots) - £17
